In addition to the conventional rental cars, taxis and Ubers of most cities, Hilton Head Island offers a slew of great public transportation options and shuttles. Guests staying in Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, Forest Beach and Shelter Cove can take advantage of these inexpensive and free options throughout their stay.
Below are the four transportation options available in each neighborhood as well as across the island.
The Dunes Buggy is a shuttle service that operates seasonally in Palmetto Dunes. By calling 843-689-4222 you can have the shuttle pick you up directly from your vacation home and take you to Shelter Cove Harbour, Dunes Beach Club, or Shelter Cove Town Centre.
Palmetto Dunes residents and guests can catch the Dunes Buggy from April through Labor Day. Check out the Dunes Buggy map to see all available routes on Hilton Head.
This free trolley service operates out of Sea Pines and goes along three different routes, the Red, Blue and Green. The Sea Pines Trolley stops in Harbour Town, The Sea Pines Beach Club Trolley and The South Beach Marina.
In addition to general public transportation, you can book the trolley for private events too. There's room for up to 24 people in each trolley to accomodate your group.
The Forest Beach Shuttle is a free service that operates between North and South Forest Beach avenues, Coligny Plaza, the Sea Crest Resort and Pope Avenue.
The service operates from 9AM to dusk Monday through Sunday, and you can arrage your shuttle by calling 843-816-5145.
The Breeze is a free trolley services that operates across the island from Coligny Beach Park to Shelter Cove. From Sunday through Monday The Breeze runs from 1PM - 10PM. On Fridays and Saturdays it runs from 1PM - 12AM.
The Breeze spans 20 stops over 3 routes, and each stop is hit approximately every 30 minutes.
